Friday 11 April, 2008: Motori Minarelli crosses an ambitious line of its long-time activity with the production of the 10 millionth engine.

The event is celebrated in the production site in Calderara di Reno (BO), in front of all the workforce, with the participation of the president of Yamaha Motor Company, T. Kajikawa.

The production milestone of 10 million engines has been reached throughout the 57-year-old life of the company.

A big acceleration was given 12 years ago; as a matter of fact more than half of the 10 million engines were produced when the Bolognese company introduced the scooter engines in its range, becoming European and world undisputed leader in this category.

The scooter engine with variatior, with its 4.5 million units sold so far, is doubtless the most significant product in the history of Motori Minarelli.

Another milestone that contributed to the achievement of this important goal is the V1 engine with automatic clutch, made in the 70s in more than 1,500,000 units.

The company was founded at the beginning of the 50s by Commendator Vittorio Minarelli and brought by his son Giorgio to an excellent level, both in the industrial and racing fields, with four constructor and two driver world champion titles won in the 125 cc class.

Motori Minarelli, member of Yamaha Motor Group since 2002, employs 370 people in the plants of Calderara di Reno, where 4- and 2-stroke 50 to 660 cc engines for scooter and motorcycle, equipping the best-selling vehicles in Europe (Yamaha: Booster 50, X-Max 250, XT660; Malaguti: Phantom 50, Password 250; Aprilia: Pegaso 660 etc.), are developed and produced.
